Caring for your D3O® correction half-pad is simple and quick, to preserve the performance of the D3O® and the lifespan of the fabric:
- Washing: Machine wash at 30°C without the shims
- Spin cycle : 800 rpm max.
- Drying: Do not tumble dry
- Ironing: Do not iron
- Dry cleaning: to be avoided
- Bleach: Avoid at all costs

What's the difference between the D3O® half-pad and D3O correction half-pad?
The D3O® half-pad is designed for saddles that are already perfectly fitted to the horse. The half-pad with Shims suits saddles that need adjusting, with a shim system to correct saddle balance.
How many shims come with the half-pad?
The D3O® correction half-pad comes with 6 felt shims, which you can trim to size and place in the designated pocket to rebalance your saddle as needed.
How does the shim system work?
A pocket that closes with velcro along the entire length of the half-pad lets you insert shims as needed to rebalance the saddle.
Can I remove or reposition the shims?
Yes — you can add or remove shims as needed, and you can even take all the shims out to use it as a simple half-pad.
How do I know how many shims to use and where to place them?
The right fit depends on your horse's conformation and your saddle. Tutorials are available on our social media channels.

I got to try the LAO shock absorbing half-pad during a saddle fitting session, and the difference was obvious from the very next sessions!
My young mare, who tends to be hypermobile, immediately found stability, with completely different gaits. Before the AO, every canter departure was followed by a rounded back, even bucking (the mare is followed by a vet/osteopath/masseuse). Since the LAO half-pad, nothing at all!
Today, I couldn't imagine riding her without it (the shim system is really a plus, to best adjust the saddle to cope with any future physical and muscular changes she might go through).

The first shock absorbing half-pad that actually absorbs shock. It's really well made, really well thought out — I can only encourage anyone who's hesitating to look into it, and watch the videos that explain and detail how it works. Tested on around fifteen horses in work, with very varied profiles, the results are unanimous. Horses regaining confidence, horses sometimes surprised, movement that becomes noticeably better… while the base pad is very thin and doesn't get in the way of saddle positioning (and personally, I appreciate being close to the horse), the shim model allows, as other major brands already offer, an even finer adjustment when needed. I'm so convinced of the benefits of the AO that I eventually plan to equip my entire lesson string with it too. Finally, a tool that effectively limits the back injuries caused by riders… not only is the benefit for the horse huge, but there are also fewer osteopath and vet visits needed… everyone comes out ahead.
